Becca's Closet

A month or so ago, I had 2 young ladies from E.C. Glass High School's Student Council Association stop by my studio. They were sweet, well spoken gals and they were on a mission: Becca's Closet. This wonderful organization gives less fortunate high schoolers who wouldn't normally be able to attend formal events an opportunity to join the fun by providing FREE formal wear. On their own time, these gals were out and about soliciting local businesses for donations. One of the things they needed were some cool pictures to help promote their cause. Their dedication to this project was so admirable, and the cause so very worthy that I jumped on board. We set up a session date at the Old City Cemetery.

When the session date arrived, it was so fun to see all of the girls pull in with their carloads of colorful, stylish gowns. There was a dress for every possible type of occasion, event or personality! We had a blast mixing it up with all of the different colors and styles. We borrowed ideas from everywhere--- from Juicy Couture to Christian Dior, the girls were ready to pull out all the stops and help create these awesome images to support their cause!

Check out the boots! Juicy Couture, all the way :)
Gisele and Heidi have got NOTHING on these ladies!!

Avante Garde, anyone?

We even grabbed a coupla' quick glammy images in the studio-FUN-FUN-FUN!!!

All-in all, it was a lovely day with lovely girls (inside and out) and lovely dresses, all in support of a very lovely cause. All of the beautiful gowns were generously donated by Celebration Bridal in downtown Lynchburg. Be sure to remember this gracious donation by the ladies at Celebration when you find yourself in need of some simply smashing formal attire.

If you or someone you know could use a helping hand affording a gown/dress for a high school formal event, please remember Becca's closet and their local chapter right here at Lynchburg's  very own E.C. Glass.

I am very grateful for the opportunity to give a little of my time to such a wonderful organization. Many thanks to the dedicated, hard working girls who are making the Becca's Closet project such a blessing to this community!

An Affair to Remember: Katie and Jason

I have had the pleasure of working with this couple through engagement portraits, bridal portraits and finally their beautiful wedding day. I got to know a little about them, in the process. Katie and Jason's road to romance was a tale of perseverance and renewal. They both had to manuever bumps in that road, before they found one another and true love. I am the lucky gal that was chosen to capture the happy ending of that journey. Which brings us to that very glorious and sunny day in October when they became Husband and Wife...

Katie puts on the finishing touches with a little help from her Mom and Bridesmaids...

Every tiny detail of the day was planned out so beautifully

...including MIMOSA's for the ladies!

Haute Couture: Bridal
...that serious pose lasted about 3 seconds, LOL! They were such a FUN group of gals!

This is a very special image: Three generations

AAAaaaawwww!

Final hugs before heading down the aisle to become a Mrs...
They were both trying SO hard not to cry...sniff-sniff

The guys enjoying a brewsky before time to suit up

That's what I'M talkin' about!

And the moment finally arrives
Look at the expressions on each of their faces in these next two images....L-O-V-E!
Katie did something that I've never seen done before at a wedding: she made vows to her new daughter. It was a moving and memorable scene. I can safely assure you that there was not a dry eye in the house.
Sealed with a kiss...*sigh*

Jason is a Firefighter. So guess what the get away vehicle was?
Yep!

I would never have imagined that the cab of a firetruck could be SO romantic..but, the windows were pretty steamy by the time they arrived at the reception ;-)

For all her laudable sophistication, Katie is a country girl at heart. As the reception started, the heels came off and the boots went on
The reception was held at Boonsboro Country Club; a beautiful 1800's built mansion.
It was decorated in impeccable style using the wedding colors, lanterns and a million twinkling lights. Breathtaking!

No matter what your age, a dance with your daddy is just so special...just look at those expressions.
It didn't take long for the evening to start getting lively. The food was amazing and the dance floor stayed PACKED! These newlyweds really know how to throw a shindig!

The live band had the joint rockin'. They played on through midnight, and literally, closed the place down. Now, that's what I call a PARTY!

...and a good time was had by all. It was a thoroughly enjoyable event, from start to finish, for everyone who had the privilege to participate in it....inlcluding myself!
I am thankful to have had the honor of playing a small part in such a special day in Katie and Jason's lives. I called their wedding day a "happy ending" to their romantic journey. But I take that back. It's not an ending but the fresh and hopeful beginning of a brand new journey. One that I know they will enjoy together, for many years to come.  I send out blessings and best wishes to the newlyweds for safe travels and smooth sailing, wherever the road may lead. God bless!
